No i am not 62 I am just random sometimes..no really. I got the Antec because it was on sale for 38$ @eager beaver computers. Everyone uses it because they are cheap and work well. Yeah I hit 3.6ghz on air it's in the desktop pic. I got a huge assed cooler for it though. Liquid costs too much for my budget build and 3.6ghz doesn't suck for 58$. I got the cooler for 10$ from a friend because it would not fit in his Full tower case. I had to mod it a bit just to get it to fit onto my motherboard properly. I used to have a UV case with Lasers and a bunch of shit, but when i built this one I went with black, black and more black. that is why i went XFX.

i posted this one just for you inher ^^

I want this. So bad.

I let someone put a decent computer together for me. My specs are (unless I'm totally clueless and say something st00pid):

Intel Core 2CPU
2.14 GHz. 2,00 GB
NVIDIA G-Force 8500 GT 512 MB (is that really that bad?)
C drive is 50 GB
D drive is 180 GB
Monitor is about 20 inches, I believe.

I don't know what else. I'm kind of clueless when it comes to computers and their specs, lol.
Would it be worth upgrading my 2,00 GB? I run Windows XP and even though it might be a tiny bit slow in my opinion, I'm also known to be very impatient. I called the guy who put it all together and he told me that it isn't worth upgrading and that I have a pretty decent set-up for what I do, but what do you guys think?

Btw, would it be worth it to upgrade it to a HDMI output? I watch Hockey online and it's supposedly feed from HD television stations so I was wondering if I upgraded my PC to HD, would this work wonders on my HD tv? The screen is pretty good as it is right now when I watch it on my tv, but it's not as clear as I would like it to be.

I'm so clueless, I feel like crying. xD lol! I still am clueless about one thing, but I can't seem to find out how to explain it to y'all so I might get back to you on that. xD

^^ for what you do ur 2gb of ram would do fine and depending on your mobo if it could handle more than 2 gbs than it might be something to look into but if it cant then its not worth it and hdmi makes a world of difference it is so clear i love my hd tv/monitor its awesome even though it is a lil small ^^ and your graphix card is fine theres no need to upgrade

It will only recognize 2 gig of ram on 32bit Os version of XP. So an upgrade of ram and not to 64bit OS is pointless. HDMI is amazing for sure. For 109$ +shipping he can get a much better 1 gb PCI-e video card with native HDMI that would vastly improve the image quality and playability of games overall.

This thread makes me drool. I hate all of you.

I'm playing CrossFire on my Toshiba laptop, and my 'series' of laptop (you have P-100, S-100, blahblah-100 something) DOESN'T HAVE ANY GRAPHIC CARD UPDATES YET. It sucks so bad. All the other series have them. D;

Games like CrossFire are the 'best' games my laptop can handle. I remember playing Left 4 Dead on this, and it only gave me like 1 frame each second. Mad But we still played it ánd finished it in like 3 days. Razz

well considering you can put together a Quad core for around 300$ + shipping..bang.. your light years ahead of that laptop, and especially with a 110$ vid card added you are shredding left 4 dead at 30+ frames per second for a smidge over 400$ + shipping. Not a bad investment if you use your computer alot and wants to play newer games at a reasonable frame rate that support the eye candy of DirectX 11.

I just had my first computergasm. Thank you.

I'm definately gonna look it through and actually consider buying a desktop as an extra. I've never really had a good computer, it's always oldest brother gives semi-good computer to middle brother, middle brother gives crappy old computer to youngest one (me). Razz

My friend told me about a shop where you just could say 'ohi. i have like 300 bucks. can you guys give me the best graphic card, memory blahblah etc for that amount of money?'. He did that too and has an awesome computer who plays all the new games flawless.

I'M JEALOUS. Mad

Gaming computer - Page 2 Empty Re: Gaming computer

Post by InHerPants Sat Jan 30, 2010 10:55 am

Sorry to be a bother once again, but I would really appreciate some help. I paid 80 euros to be able to see hockey on ESPN360.com. I used to be able to watch the games live on my television (Sony Bravia 32W5500) through an AVG cable from my computer to my tv.

It worked fine until I tried it again last Tuesday. Suddenly whenever I "plug in" my AVG cable in my computer (and taking my computer monitor out - I only have one of those AVG out available on my computer) my TV says "no signal" and I'm about to go insane.

I went back to the store (expecting it was the cable) they told me to set my resolutions differently. I did that a couple of times (Normal resolution is 1280/1024/60 herz) and no other resolutions made my TV pick up the signal either. I tried to do the whole "select my other monitor when I restart" but one of the problems I also have is that I can't see ANYTHING when I have my computer monitor plugged out, so I can't know for sure if nothing is going through, because if I just plug in my TV (hoping to get a signal after having changed settings) I don't know where I'm going with my mouse, you know?

Does ANYONE know what I could possibly do without doing a whole computer reset or something. I bought a new VGA cable today, but it still doesn't work.

ANY suggestion are VERY welcome.

PS: I checked my Sony's manual and it had all the signals listed that it would support and the 1280x1024 60 herz was in there, too.

Would it be smart to buy a cheap AVG-splitter so I can connect both my computer and TV? They have a cheap 10 euros on which is just a cable and they also have a 30 euros one that's more of a "box" that also makes the signal stronger. (I guess, because you are splitting it in two)

I'm raeging.

A little pricey but not bad at all really. Spend less on the case. read the reviews and you can find SPU/Case combos to save some ducketts

Ok when something has worked but now it doesn't you have to ask yourself what has changed. have there been any hardware or driver changes since it quit working? Have you done any windows updates recently? are they set to automatic? check all the pins and connectors. did you move the computer or anything? think think think

spu/case combo?....... u mean psu? lol and ya i know the case isnt the cheapest but i like it......a lot without having to spend 150-200 for the antec 1200
and the only problem that im worried about is that i dont know if the (2)18a rails in my psu would keep this beast running at its peak so i might go with a larger amp single rail or a slighty larger amp double rail

I have indeed continued to install Windows updates. I don't believe I have changed a lot. I haven't removed programs or anything, but I have updated multiple drivers through a program called Uniblue. I have also run the defrag program and "removing unnecessary programs" which are both programs in Windows Tools.

When I noticed it had stopped working and I tried a lot, I also downloaded a NVIDIA geforce 8500 GT update, but that didn't help either.

I'm a bit clueless honestly, because my TV manual also says that it supports 1280x1024 60 herz. I don't know if this could actually be a broken Graphic Card, although my computer monitor still works on the same AVG OUT.

LOLLERZ. I DUNNO. lol!

Hey guys, well I've tried hooking up our laptop too. I had completely forgotten about that thing, haha. Anyway, turns out that my TV doesn't recognize that signal either. I called my computer dealer and he suggested the laptop thing and if that wouldn't work he suggested I should call Sony for additional info.

I called them just a hour ago and the guy didn't know either, blahblah, I filled in a form on the Internet page (he suggested that) and the service center that receives my cry for help will contact me within approximately 2 days and then we will schedule a date so they can come over and take a look at my TV.

If it turns out to be my TV:
1) I'd be relieved we found that problem and that they will probably fix it for free.
2) I'd be pissed because they would have to fix it for free because my TV is still basically brand new. I bought it in November 2009 and if it's already broken down, this is a straight flashback towards my Sony Playstation that broke down within 6 months. (on the day that GTA IV came out! I cried. I really did cry.)
